Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you and yours. I hope that doesn’t offend your religious political correctness, but if it does… Get over it.

I’m not religious. I don’t put any religious spin on it when I say it. To me Christmas is just a time to get and give presents, share some good cheer with your fellow man, and help bolster the economy with the biggest shopping spree of the year. So again, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

Now I’ve got to go get the kids out of bed, open some gifts, and get the house ready for the whole familys arrival. Later.

A Forgotten Holiday

I have one more floating holiday left. A floating holiday that must be used this week. Lucky me, I’m taking the day off tomorrow. That’ll give me a whole extra day to do some writing…. I need it too, because I haven’t done any more work on A Difficult Dinner. Bad Ronn.

Two Things

One; I have got to move the Xbox out of my office. It was okay when I could simply ignore it, but now Tasha is using it again for her Yoga DVDs and she’s playing D&D Heroes on it. Both of these things make it very difficult to to ignore it and get to the writing.

Two; Damn MMORPG. It’s kinda fun, but really I find that I’m playing Anarchy Online for two reasons. So that I can level up my character, because heck…. I’m sure as hell not using the massive multiplayer aspect of it, and because Tasha is using the Xbox. Really, that’s about it. It’s not so great. But it is a HUGE timesink and one that I need to get away from.

Needless to say the word count for last night was 0

Bad Waste of Good Writing Time

This weekend was bad. No writing at all.

Friday: I don’t remember what I did Friday after work. I know I started the 800 Mb download of Anarchy Online, but I’m sure I did something else. Anyway, I know I didn’t write.

Saturday: Put up some additional Christmas decorations in the AM, installed the free Anarchy Online client and got it running in the afternoon, and then played it until 3am. No writing. Bad Ronn

Sunday: Cleaned the house a bit in the AM, Denis came over around 1:00ish and we played some video games, he left around 11:00 PM….. Yeah, no writing then either.

The only thing writing related that I did this weekend was build a new Word Count spreadsheet for 2005. I’ve really got to get my head out of my ass and get serious about this writing.

Also, wanted to send a Happy Birthday wish out to my step-father, Larry, who’s birthday is today.

I Was Off To A Good Start

Left work yesterday and hit the keyboard as soon as I got home. I had my glass of ice water and a drive to get some writing done, I was hoping for 4,000 words. I went back to the part of chapter 11 where I pulled the 8,000 words out the other night and started pounding the keys. I managed to crank out 2,000 words before the wife came home. I talked with her and stuff, then went back to the writing while she made dinner. Then I had to stop to eat. Then the kids wanted someone to drive their friend home. By the time I got back I was pretty much out of the zone. I managed to push out another 500 words, giving me a total for the night of just over 2,500 words and pushing the manuscript up over 78,000 words. It was a good night, but I was hoping for more. I’ll try it again tonight.
