So Happy I Could Dance

I started the day off right by rebuying my house. The refinance went through and we signed all the papers today. I’m very happy with the rate we received and I can’t imagine this being much better than it is. I think I missed the lowest rates I saw by two or three days, but still, the timing was almost perfect. I won’t give you any numbers, because I don’t think you need to know, that’s just how I roll. I will say that the appraised value of the house has gone up enough in the last four years that I was able to drop them PMI and save a nice chunk of change. We borrowed extra based on the new value and it’s a nice chunk of change. So the long and the short of it is that we went from a 30-year fixed to a 15-year fixed, saving us 11 years of payments, took cash out, and our payment went up less than seventy dollars. Just absolutely fantastic. I don’t mean to brag, but it’s just so damn awesome. I’m very excited.

Then I went to GRCC and turned in some paperwork, had my picture taken for my student ID, and realized that my papers aren’t going to be processed fast enough to pay for this first semester. Oh well,  just means I’ll have to pay now and get reimbursed in a month or so. I can live with that. Saturday morning I get to do orientation. All very exciting stuff, well, for me anyway.

The wife and I were trying to coordinate some sort of schedule of classes, being as we only have the one car and my service van is not a viable option, one because its a company vehicle and two because it doesn’t fit into any of the downtown parking structures. So, while it may not happen immediately, I may have to get a second vehicle. I would like a truck, but the fuel mileage and the cost are hurdles that are holding me back. Right now I’m thinking of getting a Chevrolet HHR Panel car/truck/thingy. There are multiple reasons for leaning that way.

I like them.

It would haul tools and such if I need to work out of it.

The gas mileage isn’t bad.

And because of their relative unpopularity, they are pretty cheap.

But I haven’t made up my mind yet, or even determined the necessity for another vehicle at this point. Any thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

I think that’s all the news I have for today.
