Last night there was a meeting here at work and I didn’t get home until almost 9:00 pm. I was tired and a little burnt out and couldn’t bring myself to write, but I did have some creative energy that has been stewing around in my head for a bit. So I went out on the World Wide Web and found some cool images to put together into a wallpaper for A Difficult Dinner.
The ‘Thane’ in this image is from Dark Horse Comics, Criminal Macrabe. I believe the artist is Steve Niles. I coupled that with some art that I found on the video game site for Vampire the Mascarade: Bloodlines which seems to blend well. Then I stitched it all together with some feathering, layering, and photographic effects from Corel to get what I wanted. I’m pretty happy with the result. Here’s the new image that I created last night.
And here’s the older image that’s based on some line art that I put together. Yeah, this isn’t my art either. I have the actual art for this one framed in my office, but I had to scan it in four parts and the scanning and reassembling process kinda mucked up the image. But here it is in wallpaper form anyway.
Clicking on the links will open a pop-up of the full wallpaper.
Making things like this really make me appreciate the talented people who have taken the time to hone their artistic talents. I on the other hand learned early the value of a good souce material and tracing paper. I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s allowed me to create images that capture, more or less, the vision in my head. At one point I think I had some actual artistic talent, but I’ve let it atrophy over the years and like any talent, if you don’t use, it you lose it.
Use your gifts. Later.
